Palace expands Sydney's Verona cinema
Palace Cinemas may have lost its Academy Twin cinema last month, but the exhibitor will now expand its four-screen Verona complex in Sydney, turning it into a seven-screen venue.
Verona, just metres away from the Academy Twin in Paddington”s Oxford Street, will be redeveloped in consultation with the building’s owner, Robert Bleakley.
“We know there’s a keen audience for intelligent cinema on Oxford Street, and this step will ensure that Sydney’s cinema-goers can continue to experience the very best films and festivals on offer, including quality Australian films, at a venue that provides the utmost in comfort and ambience,” said Palace executive director Benjamin Zeccola.
Palace currently operates 96 screens in 24 locations in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
Where are they going to find the space? As it is the first few front row seats at the verona mean a visit to the chiropractor afterwards..why not open the twin at Double Bay instead and develop that site.. better value…zzzzz

Double Bay cinema will NOT be reopening, heck OHS laws seem to not even let the building be demolished! Scary thoughts for us who worked there for many years!
Why would such a valuable site remain empty for so many years?
