Parental Guidance premiere draws in 629K metro viewers and wins entertainment

Nine’s premiere episode of Parental Guidance was the #1 entertainment program on Monday night, as the network also celebrated another overall network share win.

Parental Guidance brought in a metro audience of 629,000, while also winning all three key advertising demos.

During Nine’s Upfronts this year, the network described the show as a new format coming in late 2021, which sets out to discover what Australia’s best parenting style is. Host Ally Langdon is joined by Dr Justin Coulson to look at ten sets of parents with very different parenting styles, putting their methods to the test.

It will look at everything from “tiger parents” to “helicopter parents”, “free-range” parents and everything in between, and is produced by Eureka.

Meanwhile, an episode of Ten’s Have You Been Paying Attention? was next in entertainment, pulling in a metro audience of 561,000, followed by Seven’s Home And Away which aired to 528,000 metro viewers.

Seven’s The Chase Australia was next airing to an average of 464,000 metro viewers, while Ten’s Celebrity MasterChef brought in a metro audience of 446,000.

Seven’s Big Brother VIP launched to 377,000 metro viewers, 561,000 viewers nationally.

The #1 program on Monday was Seven News, which had an average of 937,000 metro viewers, ahead of Seven News at 6:30 with 911,000, ahead of Nine News at 6:30 which pulled in 889,000.

As previously mentioned, Nine won the night, taking an overall network share of 29.9% over Seven’s 24.2% share, while Ten had 19.7% and the ABC took an 18% share.

Nine also won primary channel share while the top-rating multi-channel for Monday was 9Gem with a share of 4.7%.

In the latest Daily Consolidated Total TV Report for 25 October, Seven News was the #1 program nationally across linear and BVOD television, with 1.657 million viewers including 35,000 on national BVOD.

The Block was the #1 entertainment program again with 1.571 million viewers, including a national BVOD audience of 196,000 views, an uplift of 21%.

The program with the biggest uplift however was Monday’s episode of Nine’s Love Island which had an 81% uplift on overnight figures and had a total of 656,000 viewers overall and a national BVOD audience of 240,000.
