Paypal invites consumers to ‘shop off the beaten path’ in lead-up to Christmas

Paypal aims to woo both consumers and small businesses in its new Christmas campaign ‘Shop Off The Beaten Path’, which launched online this week.

Developed jointly by Isobar, Edelman and Vizeum, the digital campaign encourages Australians to shop from more than 100 local merchants that are taking part in the campaign for their Christmas gifts through its own online portal.

At the same time the ecommerce company is also calling for businesses to consider Paypal as their preferred online payment method.

“Many of us are time-poor at Christmas yet we still want to give unique and special gifts that our friends and family will love,” said Elaine Herlihy, marketing director at Paypal Australia.

“Our ‘Shop Off The Beaten Path’ portal offers an easy way to find those amazing gifts while at the same time supporting local businesses so every shopper can find something special for the people they love.”

The integrated marketing campaign uses a “data-driven media strategy” and “Paypal-owned customer data” to ensure the best experience for Australian shoppers, she said.

“The campaign combines two things we are deeply proud of – our local merchants and a frictionless online shopping experience,” said Herlihy.

“By making it easier to find the perfect gift and promoting innovative Australian small businesses, we’re hoping that ‘Shop Off The Beaten Path’ will mean this Christmas is even more memorable than the last.”
