PC Authority to re-brand

Haymarket Media is re-branding its technology and gadget magazine PC Authority.

The announcement:

Haymarket Media has announced exciting changes to Australia’s most respected source of technology reviews and advice.

PC Authority will now be called PC & Tech Authority, with a new-look issue of the magazine arriving on December 1, as well as the first-ever iPad edition.

The magazine’s focus has evolved far beyond the PC since its launch back in November 1997. Today’s PC & Tech Authority reader is never far away from their favourite tech gadget, whether it’s a PC, laptop, smartphone, digital camera or TV.

The new PC & Tech Authority reflects this in the look and feel of the magazine, with a friendlier, more engaging design. Readers will find the latest products showcased like never before, through special review features and even better photography. There’s extra practical help too – in the newly-expanded ‘How To’ section readers will find more tips on how to use their new tech gadgets. What hasn’t changed is the exceptional quality of the articles and the integrity of the advice they have come to trust.

The other big news is that PC & Tech Authority will also be available on the iPad. From December 1, the iPad edition will make it even easier for readers to feel like a tech expert, with special content previously unseen in the magazine such as additional photography, video and interactive elements.

“The evolution of the brand reflects the fact that personal computing is now about way more than just PCs. The new brand and design will broaden our appeal at the newsstand, while the brand’s migration to the tablet platform marks this as an area we can dominate in the future given the quality of our editorial team,” said Publishing Director Andy Jackson.

Brand Editor Wil Maher said: “Every month, readers will get straight-talking expert reviews, group tests and features that cut through the hype, so they know they’re getting the best for their money.

“By the time they’ve finished with PC & Tech Authority, readers will know which product is best for them, feel confident about buying it, and be able to use it like a pro. Best of all, they’ll be able to advise their friends and family too.”

Combining the website, magazine and now the iPad, PC & Tech Authority gives readers the complete guide to buying, using and getting more out of the gadgets in their life.
