Perth radio ratings: 96 FM continues to build audience share in breakfast as Botica’s Bunch for Breakfast takes the helm

GfK radio ratings survey five has seen Australian Radio Network (ARN)’s 96 FM make significant inroads on its breakfast share in Perth, climbing 1.3 percentage points to 8.4%.

Midway through this survey the station axed its breakfast duo of Paul Hogan and Lisa Fernandez (Paul and Lise) to replace them with Fred Botica and Lisa Shaw’s Botica’s Bunch for Breakfast. Hogan and Fernandez were on air during the first portion of the survey (26 May to 29 June), while Botica and Shaw aired from 14 July to 17 August.

96 FM wasn’t the biggest mover in the breakfast slot though. That title went to Triple J’s Ben and Liam who dropped 2.6 percentage points to lose the second spot they gained last survey, falling to 9.2%. ABC Perth also fell, 1.7 percentage points to 9.1%, while Nova’s 93.7 held onto its breakfast dominance with ‘Nathan, Nat & Shaun’ seeing a 1.3 percentage point gain to 15.5%.

Nova’s Perth MD Gary Roberts resigned in April 2018, before moving to ARN’s 96 FM the year after. Overall, 96 FM rose 3.0 percentage points to a 10.7% audience share, while Nova jumped 0.3 percentage points for an overall 14.4%, making it the most popular station overall in Perth.

96 FM also had a strong survey result in drive, with ‘Will & Woody’ rising 4.0 percentage points to 11.7% from 7.7%, slipping it into third spot. Nova’s ‘Kate, Tim & Marty’ dropped 0.5 percentage points in drive to land on 15.3%, still holding the top spot, while Mix 94.5 rose 0.3 percentage points for a second place slot of 12.2%. Triple J also suffered in drive, falling 1.7 percentage points to 10.1%.

ABC Perth fell 1.1 percentage points overall, holding a people 10+ audience share of 6.9% from survey four’s 8.0%. The station also dropped 1.2 percentage points in drive, falling to 5.2%.
