Perth radio ratings: 96FM eats into Nova’s market share
Nova 93.7 still remains the top radio station in Perth when it comes to overall, breakfast and drive market shares, but 96FM has taken some of that shine away, according to the third GfK Radio 360 survey of 2023.
Nova’s market share came in at 16.1%, shaving off 1.1 percentage points from the last survey’s 17.2%, while 96FM wrested away second place from Southern Cross Austereo’s Mix 94.5.
In breakfast, Nova’s Nathan, Nat and Shaun remain at the top with a 17.3% market share, down 0.2%. Mix 94.5’s Pete, Matt and Kymba solidified their hold on second place after growing their share by 1.6 percentage points to 13.8%, while 96FM’s Clairsy & Lisa increased their share by 0.3 points to 12.4%.

6PR’s Breakfast with Millsy and Karl declined the most by 1 percentage point from to 9.6%, while 6iX Classic Breakfast with Rob & Nat increased by 1.5 percentage points to 4.6 %.
In drive, Nova’s lead shrunk by 1.1 percentage points from 18.3% to 17.2%, while Mix 94.5’s Carrie & Tommy increased by 0.9 points from 12.7% to 13.6% to take second place. 96FM’s Will & Woody got a 0.3 point bump to 13.3%.
Another big winner was 92.9 Triple M, which saw its The Rush Hour WA with Embers and Katie Lamb show increase by 1.5 percentage points from 5.2% to 6.7% market share.
The survey period ran from 26 February to 1 April and 16 April to 20 May.
This survey also now includes public streaming audience data for the first time, with radio stations being assessed against the Radio 360 system.
The overall streaming share in survey three was:
- Nova 93.7: 15.3%
- 96FM: 14.9%
- 6PR: 10.5%
- Mix 94.5: 8.2%
- Triple J: 6.4%
The streaming share for the breakfast slot was:
- 6PR: 21.7%
- Nova 93.7: 15.6%
- 96FM: 14.3%
- ABC Perth: 8.4%
- Mix 94.5: 7.3%
