Perth radio ratings: Mix 94.5 back on top despite stiff competition from Nova

Despite leading in breakfast and drive, the strong performance of Nova Entertainment’s 93.7 FM wasn’t quite enough to knock Mix 94.5 FM off the top overall spot in Perth.

In the final GfK ratings survey of 2018, Southern Cross Austereo’s Mix 94.5 achieved a 14.8% audience share, compared to Nova’s 13.7%. The win was thanks to growth in every session across the board for Mix, including a massive 3.2 point increase in its evening slot.

Kate, Tim and Marty were on top in drive

Nova, in contrast, declined in every time slot except drive throughout the survey period, which ran from September 30 to December 8. Despite the overall audience share slide, Nova still came out on top in drive and breakfast, with Kate, Tim and Marty’s drive time show achieving a 16.4% audience share, up 0.2 points from the previous survey.

Hit 92.9’s drive time show featuring Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little, David Hughes and Kate Langbroek achieved second place, thanks to a 1.1 point increase to 14%.

Mix’s drive time offering, featuring Lisa Shaw and Pete Curulli from 3pm to 5pm, then Jane Kennedy and Mick Molloy from 5pm to 7pm, grew 0.1 points from the previous survey to 13.6%.

Over in breakfast, Nova continued to dominate despite a 0.2 point drop from the previous survey, with Nathan Morris, Natalie Locke & Shaun McManus’s show achieving a 14.9% share.

Mix’s Dean Clairs, Kymba Cahill and Matt Dyktynski came in second place, with a 0.7 increase helping the show to a 13.3% share.

Leading AM station Macquarie Media’s 6PR remained in third place in breakfast, with a 10.4% audience share for breakfast, down from 11% last survey.

Not far behind yet again was ABC Perth, with a 10.3% share for breakfast.
