Former Melbourne Football Club general manager Peter Maynard is moving to DMG Radio to take up the job of Adelaide general manager for FIVEaa and Nova 919.

Maynard will fill the vacancy left by Sean O’Brien who resigned from the radio network last month to take up the job of managing director of Channel Nine’s Adelaide operations.

The move is a return to Adelaide for Maynard who was general manager of Austereo Adelaide for three years before he joined Melbourne Football Club in February 2010.

A veteran of the industry, Maynard has 20 years’ experience in senior sales and management roles with Southern Cross Austereo.

He worked as group sales manager and sales director at SAFM, group sales manager for Triple M and Fox FM, and as Austereo national sales director. In February 2006 he was made sales director for Austereo Melbourne and in October of that year became acting general manager for Austereo Melbourne.

Maynard will take up the new role with DMG Radio in October, relieving Gary Roberts, managing director of DMG Radio in Perth, who has been acting GM since O’Brien’s departure in August.

Cathy O’Connor, CEO of DMG Radio Australia, said: “Peter’s significant radio experience and knowledge of the Adelaide market make him a fantastic appointment for DMG Radio.

“We are thrilled to be welcoming Peter back to Adelaide as General Manager for FIVEaa and Nova 919 and are looking forward to working with him to build on our great brands in this market.”
