PHD Melbourne promotes Simon Lawson to general manager

PHD Melbourne has appointed group business director, Simon Lawson, to the role of general manager PHD Melbourne.

He will replace Daniel Isaac, who has been promoted to a senior position within Omnicom Media Group.

Simon Lawson: New general manager for PHD Melbourne

Isaac, who joined PHD in a strategy role for ANZ in 2013, has held the role of general manager for the past two years.

Commenting on his departure from PHD, Isaac said he was delighted to be moving on to his new venture.

“I’ve had a fantastic four years working with the amazing PHD family and being involved in a truly astonishing growth story both in Melbourne and nationally.

“I’ve learnt a great deal from some very smart leaders. I’ve now been offered a great opportunity to grow further while staying close to the market-leading services that Omnicom Media Group has created,” he said.

Lawson was one of the founding members of PHD Melbourne, and has held the role as group business director for ANZ for the past five years.

Lawson said of his promotion: “After five years at PHD Melbourne, I’m humbled to take on the role of general manager, I can’t wait to get started. My focus will be on helping our team of talented media professionals continue to deliver PHD media smarts to our broad range of clients.”

Mark Coad, CEO of PHD Australia said he appreciated the efforts of both Lawson and Isaac.

“We have recently extended our wonderful relationship with ANZ which is a testament to the quality of work and innovation from them and their team.

“The promotions are well deserved recognition of their hard work. On behalf of PHD, I wish Daniel well in his new role and we are extremely pleased he is staying within the network. We are thrilled to promote Simon as the new General Manager, a move which will continue to drive smart solutions for the agency and our clients,” he said.

The news follows PHD appointing M&C Saatchi’s Anna Cherry to head of strategy on Friday, along with Luciana Slade coming on board as business director for ANZ – as well as a series of new clients for PHD, including 7-Eleven, Bakers Delight and Slater & Gordon.

Lawson’s appointment is effective immediately.
