PHD scores AFL media account

The AFL has awarded its $15m a year media account to PHD ahead of the code’s 2019 season launch.

Previously held by Dentsu-owned Vizeum, the account covers all AFL campaigns and media activity with PHD starting immediately.

PHD’s general manager, Simon Lawson, and Kathryn Weatherlake, group business director

Vizeum won the account in 2016 from Mediacom after a competitive pitch against Carat, PHD and Starcom.

This time around PHD were successful against Vizeum. The AFL’s head of audiences, products and innovation, David Stevenson said: “We congratulate PHD on winning a competitive tender process and look forward to working with them as they’ve illustrated an ability to help us deliver on our long-term ambitions, and their approach should prove a great fit for the AFL.”

Mark Jarrett, Managing Director, PHD Australia added: “We’re incredibly excited to be partnering with the AFL. This latest appointment is a testament to our Melbourne office’s continued success since launching just 7 years ago. We look forward to making a valued contribution to the continued growth of AFL.”
