Pinterest rolls out AR beauty try on and shop similar feature

Pinterest has introduced new products and features, including a “Watch” tab and more features designed to make Pinterest more shoppable.

Part of Pinterest’s new ecommerce features include an augmented reality (AR) beauty try on and a “shop similar” feature.

AR Try on is Pinterest’s new integrated AR beauty try-on. This new capability allows creators to tag their Idea Pins with a new Try on sticker to add lip products.

Pinterest has also introduced a “shop similar” feature to use Pinterest’s visual search technology to recommend Product Pins that are visually similar to the content within the Pin.

Pinterest’s new “shop similar” feature

Pinterest has redesigned its home feed to offer users the option to “Browse” or “Watch”, which are now available on both iOS and Android.

Pinterest has also kicked off its global ‘Create Your Take’ activation, featuring celebrities like Jennifer Lopez, Megan Thee Stallion, Storm Reid, and more. Each creator will share an Idea Pin, encouraging Pinners to build on that idea and share their own take. The activation will be rolling out between October 2021 and March 2022 in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany and France.

Takes is a new way users on Pinterest can respond to a creator’s idea with their own Idea Pin.

Pinterest is also launching Creator Originals, a new content series featuring over 100 creators across 10 countries. Starting now until January 2022, each creator will release a series of original Idea Pins on a specific theme meant to educate, teach and inspire Pinners.

The new features and experiences started rolling out on iOS, Android, web and desktop from yesterday.
