News Corp consolidates media with Mediacom

News Corp has shifted the full media account to Mediacom following a closed review to consolidate its digital and traditional media budgets.

The account was split between Mediacom, which looks after traditional media and UM, which manages digital.

The new arrangement begins on February 1, 2017, and will run for three years.

The appointment follows on from that of former Woolworths CMO Tony Phillips as the publishing company’s new chief marketing officer in June.

Phillips said: “News Corp Australia has decided to consolidate to one media agency to deliver operational efficiencies to the business and I’m pleased to be continuing our relationship with Mediacom as that agency. I would like to thank UM for the excellent service it has provided News Corp to date.”

Ipoh appoints creative agency of record for QVB and The Strand Arcade

Retail property company Ipoh has announced The Royals as its agency of record for its Queen Victoria Building and The Strand Arcade.

The Royals’ first campaign for the two shopping destinations will launch in January to promote the centres as a unique experience in the Sydney CBD.

Taryn McGurk, group marketing manager at Ipoh, said the tender process was “rigorous.”

“We look forward to working closely with them (The Royals) to push the boundaries of ideas and encourage our shoppers to discover the distinctive retail experience we have to offer, combined with the heritage and unique architectural values of the buildings themselves.”

Dan Beaumont, The Royals managing partner, said the agency had some “great ideas” for the two destinations and was looking forward to starting its new role.

DB Breweries announces creative agency for Orchard Thieves Cider

DB Breweries has appointed Saatchi & Saatchi as the lead creative agency for Orchard Thieves Cider.

The pitch was led by Saatchi & Saatchi New Zealand and supported by its Sydney agency.

Sean O’Donnell, DB’s marketing director, said his business was pleased with the way the Sydney and NZ offices worked “seamlessly” throughout the pitch process.

“We’re looking forward to launching the campaign to consumers and transforming their perceptions of the cider category,” O’Donnell said.

Paul Wilson, managing director of Saatchi & Saatchi, said the agency had a lot of fun creating the new campaign.

“It’s been great to continue working with Sean and the team at DB who are passionate, collaborative and ambitious for great work.”
