Pitch2Punchline returns as part of The Sydney Comedy Festival

Media and marketing comedy gala Pitch2Punchline is back, this year as part of The Sydney Comedy Festival.

The event will be held on Tuesday May 12 in Australia’s most prestigious comedy venue, The Comedy Store.

Event creator Gareth Eden-Styche said the event will be even bigger and better in 2020.

“Pitch2Punchline 2019 was such an amazing success we thought ‘let’s do it again even better’” said Eden-Styche.

Pitch2Punchline gives members of the media and marketing industry a chance to take part in a night of stand up comedy after 6 weeks training and mentoring from comedy pro Cam Knight. Each participant will have their employer’s branding splashed on the stage as they perform, supported by their colleagues and peers.

“It’s the best thing to happen to our industry since the drinks’ trolley,” said Eden-Styche.

Harrison Argyle, media executive at Bohemia Group, amateur comic and a Pitch2Punchline 2019 Stand Out Stand Up said: “Pitch 2 Punchline was one of the best nights of my life. Cam Knight taught me so much more than I thought possible.”

But you don’t need to be an established open-mic performer to get involved. Kath Solly, a stand up comedy first-timer said: “Pitch2Punchline is one of the best things I have ever done. If you’re thinking about taking part, definitely do. The training helped so much and it was such an epic night!”

Pitch2Punchline also helps combat anxiety and depression in support of youth charity Batyr.

“What better way to encourage conversations about the elephant in the room than by watching our industry’s finest giggle-creators bang out one-liners to smash the stigma of mental health?” says Eden-Styche.

In 2019 Pitch2Punchline raised over $10,000 in one of the funniest charity auctions Sydney has ever seen. If you think you’ve got a bag of cracking gags, or would love to learn the art of stand up comedy, visit Registration closes March 10, 2020. Training starts March 23.
