Pizza Hut Australia appoints VMLY&R to creative account

Pizza Hut Australia has appointed VMLY&R as its creative agency and released its first campaign from the WPP-owned outfit.

VMLY&R’s will be tasked to build the brand momentum of Pizza Hut in the new food delivery landscape off the back of COVID-19.

Pizza Hut parted ways with its previous creative agency of record, The Monkeys in 2019, it was then working on a  project basis with marketing agency Step Change.

Pizza Hut has experienced significant development and growth over the past 24 months, in line with an increasing consumer appetite for delivered meals, contactless options and ‘grab and go’ convenience. It’s now the fastest-growing QSR in the country.

Adam Searle will lead the account in the newly created role of creative business partner.

“Our ambition is very clear: get Pizza Hut Australia right back to number one,” said Pizza Hut’s chief executive officer, Phil Reed. “We’re looking forward to working with Adam and the VMLY&R team to help us drive further brand and sales growth.”

“We are absolutely thrilled to have Pizza Hut as a key VMLY&R client,” said VMLY&R chairman, Jon Bird. “It’s a privilege to work with such an iconic brand.”

VMLY&R’s first retail campaign for Pizza Hut, ‘Unreal Deals’, features the return of the iconic 90’s Pizza delivery poster boy, Dougie, played by actor Diarmid Heidenreich, who appeared in Pizza Hut’s advertising between 1993 and 1996.
