A revolutionary promo
It appears that a promotion by Melbourne hotel chain Art Series – which allows guests to stay as long as they want, until a new guest checks in – has found an admirer in Thailand.
A matter of hours after Art Series Hotels launched its Overstay Checkout promo on Sunday, Khao Sok Paradise Resort in Southern Thailand launched a spookily similar promo called… Overstay Checkout.
The similarities in copy on their websites do not suggest this was a remarkable coincidence.
The Art Series Overstay Checkout promo site:
And the Khao Sok Paradise Resort ‘Latest check out ever’ promo site:
Even the ‘Share the love’ call-to-action shows shared copywriting skills.
Khao Sok urges its customers:
What are you going to do, with all that extra time in the Khao Sok national park? Tell us on Facebook! And remember to share some pictures from your overstay on Instagram.”
And Art Series Hotels:
What are you planning on doing with all that extra time in the Melbourne sunshine? Tell us on Facebook and Twitter! And remember to share some pics from your overstay on Instagram.
Though the offers differ slightly (guests must stay a minimum of two nights at the Khao Sok to be eligible; at Art Series Hotels, only one), both hotels make similarly chest-beating claims about the promo.

Revolutionary, indeed.

It’s interesting that words can be stolen, and there is no law (none that I know of) to protect the IP of advertisers/clients…
Unless I’m mistaken, then please enlighten me.
