POLY launches bespoke billboard for 2022 Toyota AFL Finals Series

oOh!media creative and innovation hub POLY has launched a special build out-of-home billboard to celebrate the return of the 2022 Toyota AFL Final Series to Melbourne.

Following two years of disruption to the season, the AFL wanted to restore the excitement and anticipation of the competition, which will culminate with the Grand Final at the MCG on 24 September.

The new work comes several days after oOh! Media revealed it had signed an exclusive out-of-home content partnership with the AFL to broadcast live scores, results, pictures, articles and video highlights from this year’s Toyota AFL Final Series. Earlier in the month, the code signed a record-breaking deal with incumbent partners Foxtel and Seven, securing its broadcast future until 2031.

The billboard is located at oOh!’s Punt Road site, located next to the MCG. The creative tells the story of the 2022 Toyota AFL Final Series, driving ongoing interest and intrigue for fans throughout the season.

The flags of each of the eight finalists have been attached to the Punt Road spectacular site and every Monday the flags of the losing teams will be removed, with the winning flags repositioned, revealing a section of the billboard. On Monday 19 September the message on the billboard will be revealed in full, with the two grand finalists’ flags sitting either side of the message.

Neil Ackland, chief content, marketing and creative officer, oOh! and CEO of POLY said: “After two years of finals being played in other states, the 2022 Toyota AFL Final Series has returned to its spiritual home in Melbourne. To mark the return, the AFL wanted to make a statement that finals footy is back.”

“The POLY team worked closely with the AFL to bring the concept to life, while navigating a number of logistical challenges. The result is a bespoke and dynamic creative spectacular that will capture the imagination of Melburnians and bring value back to the fans.”
