Prince Charles roasts Molly Meldrum
It’s one of the most charmingly awkward moments ever on Australian TV, Molly Meldrum’s disastrous attempts at interviewing a young Prince Charles on Countdown.
This year the now defunct show would have been 40, and to celebrate there’s the obligatory documentary looking at the influence the show had. And as part of it the Prince has recorded a special skit commemorating the interview.
“Was it really 40 years ago, it only seems like yesterday,” quips the Prince. “If it were, I would cancel it.”
“I certainly learned some interesting new Australian words from Mr Meldrum, and if he could have read my mind he would have learned some interesting new English words from me,” adds Charlie in the surprisingly entertaining sketch.
