Mumbrella Publish adds Nine’s Tory Maguire to lineup

Tori Maguire, Scott Purcell and Celia Harding
Nine’s managing director of publishing Tory Maguire will take an in-depth look at Nine’s paywall journey in a keynote session at Mumbrella’s Publish conference on October 28.
Maguire will outline how the publisher has adapted to audience behaviour shifts, platform disruption and commercial pressures. She will also share Nine’s outlook on journalism’s future in an AI-saturated market, offering delegates a view of what it takes to keep news relevant, trusted and sustainable.
Also confirmed is Celia Harding, founder of Leoprd and author of ‘the LEO Report: Reputation to Revenue – Building Trust, Authority and Visibility in the AI Era.’ Harding will examine how publishers are becoming the architects of machine knowledge, shaping the answers AI systems deliver to billions of queries. Drawing on exclusive research into Australia’s fastest-growing companies, she will decode how ChatGPT, Copilot, Perplexity, and Gemini each treat publisher content. She will also explore what this means for brand visibility in the answer economy.
Rounding out the new additions, Scott Purcell, co-founder and director of Man of Many, will present a practical session on AI workflows. Purcell will set out 10 actionable hacks to integrate AI more effectively across publishing operations, covering usage policies, workflow automation, and advanced tools. His session will provide a clear roadmap, case studies and practical applications designed to save time, reduce risk and give publishers a competitive edge.
