Qantas and Football Australia fuel up for another three years

Qantas will continue its long-standing partnership as the official airline of the Subway Socceroos and the CommBank Matildas, plus the Australia Cup, for the next three years in an extension of its deal with Football Australia.

An announcement said the extension will also see Qantas continue to commit to inclusion, diversity, sustainability, and reconciliation and support regional Australia, emphasised by its support of the Australia Cup.

Football Australia and Qantas plan to work together to elevate the Australia Cup, as over 770 clubs have entered this year.

Football Australia CEO, James Johnson said: “Football Australia is excited to renew its partnership with Qantas, which extends beyond two decades. Qantas is a key partner for us, and we are grateful for their ongoing support of Australian football.

“Our partnership with Qantas has allowed us to take the best of Australian football to the world, and we are thrilled to continue working together to grow the game for all Australians.

“Qantas has been an essential partner of Football Australia and Australian football for many years, and we are delighted to continue our partnership for the next three years,” Johnson said.

“Our partnership extension will allow Qantas to maintain its position as a leader in these areas, in partnership with Football Australia.”

Markus Svensson, Qantas Group chief customer officer said Qantas is excited to continue its partnership with Football Australia, and help it continue championing the values of inclusion and diversity.

“As the national carrier, we’re excited to be continuing our support of Football Australia to help showcase our athletes on the world stage and also inspire a new generation of Socceroos and Matildas to represent Australia at the highest level,” he said.

The announcement comes shortly after Football Australia’s criticism of FIFA for the Visit Saudi sponsorship of the Women’s World Cup, which has since been revoked.
