R/GA Australia appoints Claire Waring as executive creative director

R/GA Australia has hired Claire Gillis Waring to fill the role of executive creative director, replacing Kieran Antill, who left the company after one year as R/GA’s ECD.

Waring will lead the agency’s teams across Sydney and Melbourne to develop product, services and communications work.

Prior to R/GA, Waring was executive creative director at Publicis Sapient, South East Asia, and has also held leadership roles at TBWA\Digital Arts Network, Havas, and Saatchi & Saatchi, building a reputation for driving creative cultures of innovation and collaboration.

Waring joins the Interpublic Group’s R/GA Australia at a time when both the Sydney and Melbourne offices are experiencing significant growth due to its strong product and experience offerings. Most recently, R/GA Australia announced the Australian Professional Leagues win.

Waring’s career of over 20 years has spanned Oceania, Europe and Asia during which she won a host of major industry awards, juries and speaking accolades – Cannes, Spikes, OneShow, Art Directors Club, Clio and Effies, among them.

Michael Titshall, VP and managing director, R/GA Australia said: “Waring has consistently created world-class work at the intersection of brand, experience, and technology. Her obsession with interactive behaviour and passion for creating work that allows people to experience brands in new ways perfectly aligns to our ambitions.”

Seamus Higgins, VP CCO, R/GA APAC, said: “I feel incredibly lucky that we were able to attract Waring to lead our transformed Australian creative offering into the future. Her talent and experience are exceptional. The whole team, including myself, are looking forward to working with and learning from her.”

On joining the team, Waring said: “I’m thrilled to join the talented team at R/GA. I’ve always believed that by bringing true insight, imagination, and technology together you can make magic. R/GA has planted itself firmly on the human side of technology, embracing innovation to create a future that benefits all of us. As a creative leader and a mum, I can’t think of a place I’d rather be.”
