Radio ratings: Syd – 2GB wins 100th survey; Melb – Fox claims crown; Bris – Nova wins breakfast; Perth – MIX takes drive lead

Talkback radio station 2GB has claimed its 100th radio survey win, claiming 13% share of the total audience across the week.

The station is also celebrating morning presenter Ray Hadley winning his 100th consecutive survey, despite dropping 1.1 points, continuing to dominate with a 16.4% audience share in that time slot.

Alan Jones in the breakfast slot hit the 100 straight survey wins mark exactly two years ago, and he extended that run to 115 today increasing his audience share by 0.7 points to 16.9% in Sydney.

In the battle for FM breakfast, Kiis FM’s Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson managed 10.8% of the audience share, lifting 1.8 points on last survey to 10.8%.

Australian Radio Network stablemates Brendan Jones and Amanda Keller stayed flat but held second spot with 7% share on WSFM, while SmoothFM’s Bogart Torelli and Glenn Daniel slipped 0.3 points to a 6.7% share.

However, SmoothFM remained top of the FM pile – holding steady on 9.7% audience share of people 10+; while Kiis jumped 1.3 points to a 9.1% share after lifts across all of its time slots, and Nova stayed third with 7.3% share, while WSFM slipped back 0.8 points to 6.9% share.

Southern Cross Austereo’s Sydney woes do not get any better with 2DayFM and TripleM propping up the commercial FM table with 4.6% and 4.9% of the market, respectively.

That included a 0.1 point drop to 4.2% for Rove McManus and Sam Frost in breakfast on 2DayFM, and a 0.2 point drop for the Grill Team on TripleM.

2Day’s Hamish Blake and Andy Lee saw a slight uptick in drive to 6.1% share, and Merrick Watts on TripleM lifted 0.3 points to a 5% share.

Smooth’s Byron Webb stayed top in drive despite losing 0.9 points with a 10.4% share, ahead of Nova’s Kate Ritchie, Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold, who won best on-air team at the ACRAs last month, and managed 9.4% share.

Melbourne: FoxFM claims FM ratings crown, nudging Gold into second place

Southern Cross Austereo’s FoxFM has claimed the FM ratings crown outright from rival Australian Radio Network Gold after an audience increase of 1.5 share points.

The previous two surveys have seen FoxFM and Gold tie for first place position for total people; however, Survey Seven saw FoxFM push Gold into second place with an audience share of 10.1% while Gold settled for a share of 8%, down 0.6 share points on the previous survey.

Fellow SCA channel TripleM claimed third place with an audience share of 7.7%, up 0.3 share points on the previous survey, while SmoothFM settled for fourth place after its audience declined by 0.4 points to 7.6%.

Nova slotted in next with a share of 6.4% with KiisFM settling for sixth place with a share of 5.8% – up 0.2 points on the previous survey.

The competitive breakfast time slot saw Triple M’s ‘Hot Breakfast Team’ of Eddie McGuire, Mick Molloy and Luke Darcy claim the top spot with an audience share of 9.9%, up 0.7 points on survey six.

FoxFM’s breakfast trio of Fifi, Dave and Fev were also up, increasing their share by 0.5 points to 8.5%, while in third place Nova’s Chrissie Swan, Sam Pang and Jonathan Brown saw their share slip by 0.3 points to 7%.

In drive, FoxFM’s nationally syndicated show of Hamish Blake and Andy Lee once again reigned supreme with a share of 13.3%, up 2.3 points.

In at second place was Nova’s Kate Ritchie, Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold who saw their share slip by 0.7 points to 7.3%.

Triple M’s Rush Hour also saw its audience decline by 0.3 points to 7.8%.

KiisFM’s Hughesy & Kate improved their share by 0.8 points to sit on a share of 7.1%, just behind Gold’s drive show share of 7.2%.

In the AM race, 3AW once again claimed the top spot with a Monday to Sunday share of 13.6%, down 0.5 share points, while ABC774 delivered a share of 7.6% – down 0.4 points.

In breakfast, 3AW’s breakfast with Ross and John posted a share of 17.8%, down 0.9 points, while ABC’s Breakfast with Red Symons grabbed a share of 12.3%, down 0.5 points.

And in drive, 3AW once again took the lead with a share of 12.1% while the ABC had a share of 8%.

Adelaide: Hamish & Andy storm to drive time lead in Adelaide as Mix falls in all sessions

Hit 107 in Adelaide has stormed to the top of the drive time ratings with Hamish & Andy overtaking Nova 91.9 with a 2.3 points gain in audience share.

The win for the ‘hits and old school’ station came as the Nova drive team of Kate, Tim and Marty dropped 1 point to surrender the lead they had only just stolen from Mix 102.3’s team of Hughesy & Kate in the September survey.

Hit recorded a share of 13.4% in drive, overtaking Nova’s 13.2%.

Hughsey & Kate had a catastrophic survey, dropping 2 full ratings points to finish on 11.8%.

The story in breakfast for Mix was similar, with Jodie & Soda losing 1.9 points but holding the top spot by virtue of a 0.7 point drop by Nova’s Lewis & Lowe, who finished with 10%.

5MMM’s Roo & Ditts saw last survey’s marginal gain wiped out as they slipped from 10.3% to 9.3%.

While Mix was down in every session – including a 3.1 point dive in afternoons – it managed to hold its overall lead despite a drop of 1.8 points to 14%.

Nova couldn’t shift the dial, remaining on its 11.3% share from the previous survey, surrendering second spot to Hit, which rode the drive success to a 1.3 point gain to pip Nova with a share of 10.4%.

ABC 891 remained at the top of the AM ratings with a gain of 0.9 to 11.4% against Fiveaa which slipped 0.5 to finish on 10.1%

Brisbane: Nova regains breakfast top spot over 97.3FM

Nova 106.9 has reclaimed the top Brisbane breakfast spot over 97.3FM, while also grabbing the top overall audience share.

Although falling 0.6 points to 12.6%, Nova’s Ash Bradnam, Kip Wightman and David Lutteral – ‘Ash, Kip & Luttsy’ – managed to overtake 97.3FM’s Robin Bailey, who dropped 0.9 points falling down to 12.5%.

4KQ, home of Brisbane’s classic hits, jumped 1.4 points in commercial FM breakfast to claim third spot and overtake HIT 105. With a share of 9% HIT 105’s ‘Stav, Abby & Osher’ stagnant, failing to either gain or lose points.

Southern Cross Austereo-owned Hit saw another drop with Hamish & Andy’s drive program losing 0.1 points to surrender the top spot to Nova’s Kate Ritchie, Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold, who dropped 0.1 points to 16.3%.

Brisbane radio ratings- table 2Kiis FM’s 97.3 saw a jump of 0.6 points to keep them in third spot with 12.5% for the drive program.

Although finishing on top in total people Nova experienced another drop, down 0.2 points to 13.5% from Survey Six. Kiis stayed at 12.2%, with HIT 105 jumping 0.1 points to 10.8%.

Talkback station ABC612 saw a rise of 0.3 points to hold its top spot of overall audience share at 8.2% while Triple J lost 0.6 points, falling to 7.9%. ABC612 also took out the top spot for AM breakfast with an audience share of 11.3% leaving Triple J trailing with 8.2% after dropping 0.6 points.

ABCFM saw a decrease in points across the board, losing 0.1 points in overall audience share, 0.2 points for breakfast and 0.7 for their drive program.

Perth: MIX takes massive drive time lead

Mix 94.5 has managed to extend its already dominant lead in drive time in Perth even further, with a jump of 2.3 points to finish the penultimate survey of the year with with a monster 18.4% share.

The duo of Lisa and Pete left Hit 92.9’s Hamish & Andy in their wake, with the networked Hit show losing 0.5 points to finish at 12.9%, giving them the dead heat with Nova 93.7’s Kate, Tim & Marty, who lifted 0.6 points.Perth Breakfast radio survey 7 2016

Breakfast saw no change in the status quo with Mix’s Nathan, Nat & ShaunClairsy, Matt and Kymba remaining at the top with 14.6%, down 0.4%.

Nova’s Clairsy, Matt and Kymba dropped 0.4 points to 11.9%, holding second place against the rising Hit 92.9 team of Heidi, Will & Woody, who lifted 0.9 points to 11.4%.

Mix remained at the top of the overall ratings, well in command with a share of 16.9%, up 1.3 points on September.

Hit managed to leapfrog Nova with a rise of 0.6 points to gain second spot with 11.6%, while Nova slipped 0.1 points to finish the survey on 11.2%.

On AM ABC 702 finished on top with 8.6%, down 0.1 points, ahead of 6PR which rose 0.9 points.
