Rae Johnston named Gizmodo Australia’s new editor

Allure Media’s has appointed journalist and TV presenter Rae Johnston as editor of Gizmodo Australia.

Johnston replaces Campbell Simpson, who was in the role for more than two years.

It is unclear where Simpson is headed.

Johnston joined Gizmodo as a journalist in November 2015 having previously worked as a television and radio presenter on shows including SBS Viceland’s The Feed and NITV’s current affairs program, The Point.

She has also served as commercial editor for Gizmodo, Kotaku, Lifehacker and Business Insider while at Allure Media.

Mark Serrels, publisher and managing editor of Gizmodo Australia, said he was incredibly proud of the work Johnston had done for the company so far.

“She’s been responsible for some of our most important stories over the past few years and is a tremendous ambassador for Gizmodo Australia,” Serrels said.

“Rae inspires people. Internally at Allure Media and externally. One thing that’s a real constant is her ability to rise to a challenge. I can’t wait to see what she brings to Gizmodo Australia as Editor.”
