Redesigned M&C Saatchi Australian headquarters sets new direction for business

M&C Saatchi Group has redesigned its Sydney office with a goal for employees to inspire, create and collaborate.

The announcement:

Leading creative company M&C Saatchi Group has unveiled its newly redesigned Australian headquarters which reshapes and reconnects its entire business.

The new creative hub in central Sydney brings together, for the first time, M&C Saatchi Group’s collective of world-class specialist agencies in a space designed by Woods Bagot for collaboration and creativity.

Justin Graham, CEO of M&C Saatchi Group AUNZ said, “The M&C Saatchi Group is all about realising the big ambitions of our clients, our people and the industry we are a part of. We have created a space that allows us to better connect around those ambitions.”

“Our redesigned Sydney headquarters does exactly this, allowing us to inspire, create and collaborate in a cutting-edge environment. It is a critical step forward as the business evolves,” Mr Graham said.

Located in the historic former Transport House on 99 Macquarie Street, the Sydney hub incorporates both office and working-from-home operating rhythms. With over 3,000 sqm of floor space over three floors, the hub is designed for hybrid working and multiple collaboration spaces as well as a library for quiet time.

Amanda Stanaway, global leader of workplace interiors at Woods Bagot, said the M&C Saatchi Group office redesign embodied two of the primary post-pandemic workplace trends.

“The flight to quality is also a flight to character,” Ms Stanaway said.

“We’ve taken an early 20th-century building and brought it into the 21st century through significant base building interventions, enabling us to achieve the primary goal of facilitating better flow and worker connectivity.”

Key work included repositioning the building core, adding two new internal staircases linking teams across all three floors, creating a dedicated building entry and incorporating a destination café.

“It has been a wonderful experience to marry Sydney’s past with the city’s future,” Ms Stanaway said.

Cam Blackley, CCO of M&C Saatchi Group AUNZ said:  “This is an exciting time for M&C Saatchi Group as we come back together at 99 Macquarie St, a space that took classic bones and reimagined their potential in service of collaboration and originality.

Bringing our diverse creative brains together like never before is amazing and is incredibly important for the work.  We’re also excited to be returning to all the new bars and pubs in the area.  We’ll collaborate in those spaces too, from time to time. ”
