Nine recommissions Rescue Special Ops

Despite stuttering ratings, Nine has recommissioned Rescue Special Ops.  

The announcement:

The Nine Network and Southern Star Entertainment today announced that RESCUE: Special Ops will return for a third season in 2011.

Twenty-two new episodes of the gripping action-drama series will be filmed in and around Sydney from September.

“RESCUE: Special Ops has continued to grow as a real audience favourite and I’m delighted, along with everyone at Nine, to be commissioning a third series. I look forward to being entertained by the much loved characters and great stories, with plenty of action in season three.” Jo Horsburgh, Head of Nine Drama, said.

Series producers Sarah Smith and Julie McGauran said: “We are thrilled to be going into a third season of RESCUE: Special Ops. Expect edge-of-your seat action as exciting new challenges put our favourite rescue team to the test.”

RESCUE: Special Ops follows a group of paramedics in peak physical condition who are called on for complex search and rescue operations. With the latest in training and equipment they can access anyone, anywhere, under any conditions.

The new series will again star Peter Phelps, Libby Tanner, Gigi Edgley, Katherine Hicks, Les Hill, Andrew Lees and Daniel Amalm.

Les Hill, who plays team leader Dean Gallagher said “I’m incredibly excited about season three of Rescue. No doubt Julie and Sarah have got some interesting challenges laid out for the characters, and it will be great to be working with such a talented and creative group again. I’m blessed to be working with such good people.”

Season two of RESCUE: Special Ops is currently on air at 8.30pm Mondays on Channel Nine.
