Retail marketing agency Retail-X launches in Australia

A new retail marketing agency has launched with offices in Sydney and Melbourne – and 25 staff.

The new agency is backed by three owners, Robbie Robertson and Alex Ritchie, the founders of experiential design consultancy e2, and former client-side retailer Sarah Cave.

Cave, who has worked at Vodafone, Tom Tom and Sainsbury’s, will run the agency as MD.

Among the 25 staff – 6 in Melbourne, 19 in Sydney – are interior designers, graphic designers, merchandisers and client service people, with experience on brands including Google, Tarocash, Commonwealth Bank and ACP Magazines.

The agency would not reveal the identity of its founding client.

Retail-X will work alongside e2, although the businesses are to be run separately. The agency has also partnered with employee engagement specialist Meme Partners.

“Retailers to have a lot of cynicism towards agencies.  They tend to think that people in agencies do not really understand their business,” Cave told Mumbrella. “We like to think we have the experience to understand what retail is all about.”

“While major international retail brands proliferate, Australian retailers want to reinvigorate their stores to increase footfall, but often don’t have the multi-million dollar budgets needed for store refits. We can step in and refresh brands’ display and stores to increase traffic and sales for a fraction of the cost of a refit program.”
