Ten’s Thursday night win leaves it tied with Seven for ratings week share

Channel Ten won the ratings night on Thursday with the perennial third-placed network now neck and neck with Seven for the largest audience share of the week at 17.8%.

ten logoMasterchef was again the highest rating show of the night, with 1.148m metro viewers tuning in for its 7:30pm Masterclass episode according to OzTam overnight metro ratings.

Family Feud at 6pm performed respectably, grabbing 595,000 viewers. 560,000 viewers also stuck around after Masterchef to catch Ten’s Law & Order SVU double-bill at 8:40pm.

Seven’s biggest non-news drawcard Home and Away pulled 734,000 viewers at 7pm for a double-bill.

Nine saw its audience fragmented by its Thursday night NRL game, which managed 392,000 in Sydney and Brisbane, followed by The Footy Show which managed 324,000 straight after in those cities.

In the news race, Seven came out on top with 1.039m and 1.032m viewers for its 6pm news and 6:30pm Today Tonight program. Nine missed out on cracking the million barrier with audiences of 959,000 at 6pm and 950,000 at 6:30pm.

Seven also won the breakfast TV battle with Sunrise posting a comprehensive 328,000 viewers to Today’s 296,000.

Ten’s The Project pulled 467,000 viewers at 6:30pm and 675,000 at 7pm, becoming the second most popular program after Masterchef among two of the three ad demographics (16-39 and 18-45). Nine News at 6:30pm came in second for the last demographic (25-54).

Ten finished the evening with an 18.1% audience share, a nose length ahead of Nine at 17.9%. Seven came in third with 14.9% followed by ABC with 10.5% and SBS with 5.4%.
