Revenge and Masterchef dominate Monday’s ratings while the drama takes place on Q&A

The absence of Nine’s The Block made an immediate impact on Monday night’s ratings with Seven’s Revenge the most watched show of the night with an average of 1.452m viewers while Ten’s Masterchef was second with a much improved 1.396m viewers.

Meanwhile, ABC1’s Q&A – which saw GetUp director Simon Sheikh dramatically collapse during the live show – averaged 721,000 viewers, 20th for the night according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam.

Seven won in channel share with 23.9%. Masterchef’s strong showing gave Ten second place on 16.2% while the ABC’s strong current affairs night was third on 15.4% share, pushing Nine to 13.8%.

Seven’s The Amazing race was seventh for the night with 1.101m viewers.

Nine’s drama Tricky Business tanked with just 558,000 viewers.

Nine’s The Big Bang Theory double bill rated 785,000 and 771,000.

In the morning slot, Sunrise beat Today by 345,000 to 314,000.

In the key advertising demographics, Masterchef was most popular show among the 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54 age groups.
