R/GA London group account director Remi Abayomi is joining R/GA Sydney as client services director, Mumbrella can reveal.

Joining the agency in an executive role, Abayomi will report to Jon Holloway, managing director of the Sydney office.

He joins the Sydney team after just over three years with R/GA in London. Previously Abayomi was with viral video company Unruly, where he was group head, Netherlands, and was also an account director with AKQA for five-and-a-half years.

Holloway said in a statement: “Here at R/GA we have gone through some exponential growth over the past 12 months; the team is rocking and we needed a truly global talent to come and drive us forward to our next stage.

“Remi has R/GA DNA in his blood, coming from arguably the top office in the network, having worked on some of the top brands in the world. We are so happy to have such an immense talent joining us.”

At R/GA London, Abaymoi led the global Beats by Dr Dre account where he delivered campaigns such as The Pills, Hear What You Want To Hear and The Game Before The Game.

Abayomi also led the Google account and in his time at AKQA handled roles for Nike, Heineken and Coca-Cola.

Abayomi said in a statement: “I’m delighted to be joining the R/GA Sydney team at this very exciting time in the agency’s development.

“When I started at R/GA London three years ago we were roughly the same size as Sydney is now, with similar plans for growth and the same hunger for delivering game-changing, transformative work for our clients.

“We nailed it in London and now I’m looking forward to bringing my experience to the Sydney team to replicate this success in such a dynamic market.”
