Rove returns with Fox 8 chatshow from LA

foxtel_logoRove McManus is to return to Australian television after more than a year away with a new talk show on pay TV channel Fox 8.

The show will be a one hour weekly filmed in Los Angeles. His previous role was as host of Ten’s long-running Sunday night show Rove which ended in late 2009.

The new venture – Rove LA – will be produced by his production company Roving Enterprises, which also produces The 7PM Project for Ten.

McManus said: “While it has been great to rest, recharge and get to know LA over the past 12 months, I have really missed the adrenaline rush of a TV studio and doing what I love most. I’m excited to be back, excited to be with Foxtel and excited to be doing a show from a country that will give me plenty to share with everyone back home.”

Brian Walsh, Foxtel’s executive director of television, said: “It is an under-statement to say we are excited that Rove is joining Foxtel. His passion and enthusiasm for this project is enthralling, and after a well earned break it will be great to have him back on Australian television again.

“This series will be unique. It will see Rove return to some of his comic roots and will have all the energy and spontaneity of a studio show in front of a live audience. It also promises some of Hollywood’s biggest names as guest stars.”

Walsh hinted that Roving Enterprises was working on other ideas for the Foxtel channels. He said: “Foxtel intends for this to be a long term partnership. We are already planning more show ideas well into 2012. This is a landmark deal.”
