RSVP, Cook Islands Tourism and Pacific Blue to launch reality dating show
Cook Islands Tourism has teamed up with Fairfax-owned dating website RSVP and Pacific Blue airline to create a reality dating show, Mumbrella can reveal.
Entitled Rules of Attraction, its creators have dubbed it the “ultimate dating adventure”.
Applications to star in the show closed last Sunday, with judges now in the process of selecting 24 finalists to be flown to Sydney to audition in person.
Six single men and six single women will then be chosen and flown to the Cook Islands to film the show on May 7 -19.
The concept is being led by Cook Islands Tourism and its agency Capture.
Mumbrella understands that those behind the project believe they will be able to get it onto TV rather than as a web only series.
It is yet to sign a deal with a TV channel, but it is understood that they are currently negotiating to secure airtime for between October and November.
The show is already being promoted on Facebook and Twitter which will be used to provide special offers from the brand partners involved.
Other similar reality TV shows include Temptation Island. The US-originated show saw couples agree to live with a group of singles, in order to test the strength of their relationships.
Temptation Island was franchised to other markets including the UK and Australia on the Seven Network.
Cook Islands Tourism, RSVP, Pacific Blue and Capture were not available for comment at the time this article was posted.
Hmm sounds like product placement – I am sure Network would air it for a price!
