Rubicon Project invests in Asia Pacific Team with two new hires

Former Dennis Publishing and Yahoo!7 managers join Rubicon Project’s Sydney headquarters.

The announcement:

Rubicon Project, which operates REVV, the advertising industry’s largest independent real-time trading platform for digital advertising, has made two appointments. Rohan Creasey and Liam Lucas will join the team based in Sydney to help publishers in the APAC region efficiently and safely monetise their online advertising inventory and ensure that each advertising impression is sold through the best channel for the highest price possible.

Joining from Dennis Publishing, and having previously worked at the New Scientist in the UK, Creasy brings over ten years of experience of the online advertising industry.

As technical account manager for mobile across Asia Pacific he will be responsible for helping leading publishers across the region to safely, effectively and efficiently monetise their mobile advertising inventory.

The global mobile advertising market is forecast to surge to $8.2 billion by 2016 according to Forrester Research. Last year, Rubicon Project acquired San Francisco-based MobSmith and integrated this technology into REVV, Rubicon Project’s real-time trading platform, providing a single platform and marketplace for the buying and selling of both online display and mobile advertising inventory.

Liam Lucas takes a position as Demand Team Manager for Asia Pacific. Formerly at Yahoo!7 in Sydney, Lucas will draw on his understanding of the programmatic trading landscape, to work with his buy-side contacts across APAC including DSPs, agency trading desks such as Cadreon, Amnet Australia, and agencies like Ikon Communications and OMD, as well as online advertising networks in order to increase revenue for publishers.

“We’re seeing incredible interest in programmatic trading in the APAC region, yet there is still rooms for growth and a lot of potential for private marketplaces,” explains Kaylie Smith, managing director of Rubicon Project in APAC. “Automation is also helping to drive mobile advertising growth, although the market remains very fragmented. Rubicon Project’s REVV Platform enables publishers to sell mobile ad inventory through both direct and indirect sales channels and we’re investing in this new position to provide publishers with the support they need for mobile advertising alongside display.”

Originally from the UK, Rohan Creasey brings over 10 years’ of online experience and has worked for individual publishers and ad networks. He spent a year at Dennis Publishing as Senior Advertising Operations and Inventory Account Manager and a year at Adify in the UK before that. This followed five years at the New Scientist, owned by Reed Business Information, working on advertising operations and web production, following a degree in Geology at Birmingham University in the UK. Liam Lucas spent a year as an account manager at Yahoo! and worked in the not-for-profit industry before that. He has a degree in Business, Marketing and International Management form La Trobe University.
