Russ Mitchinson appointed as OMD WA general manager and head of strategy

Former Leo Burnett creative Russ Mitchinson has been appointed as OMD WA’s general manager and head of strategy. In his new role, Mitchinson will lead OMD WA’s communications strategy development.

Mitchinson was previously based in OMD’s Sydney office as head of strategy for McDonald’s and Village Roadshow. In his role as head of strategy, Mitchinson created integrated campaigns to launch films films such as King Arthur, Dunkirk and IT nationally.

Before making the move media agency side with OMD, Mitchinson was head of strategy at Leo Burnett, where he worked on accounts including Woolworths, Samsung and Diageo.

He’s also a former chair of the Communications Council Account Planning Group, and was previously a planning partner at DDB Sydney.

Mitchinson will be based in the OMD WA office, with is role officially commencing in November.
