Saatchi & Saatchi appoints Mike Spirkovski as national CCO while Sesh Moodley returns to Australia as deputy
Saatchi & Saatchi Australia has appointed Mike Spirkovski as the agency’s first national chief creative officer.
The promotion will see Spirkovski retain responsibility for the creative agency’s Sydney output, as well as taking its fledgling Melbourne offering under his wing.
Spirkovski’s promotion sees former Naked Communications creative director Sesh Moodley return to Australia as deputy ECD of Saatchis Sydney.
Melbourne group creative director Leon Wilson will now report in to Spirkovski. Spirkovski joined Saatchi & Saatchi as ECD in 2014 from Iris Sydney.
Meanwhile, Moodley was most recently ECD at Victors & Spoils in Boulder, Colorado. During his time in the US, Moodley also worked at agencies including Crispin Porter & Bogusky and AKQA.
There will be no ECD in Sydney, with the new role replacing Spirkovski’s original title.
Michael Rebelo, Saatchi & Saatchi’s CEO for Australia and New Zealand said it was “a natural decision” to promote Spirkovski. “He has been the creative partner every CEO wishes for, a fine leader of our creative department and a top partner and friend to our clients and the agency team.”
Spirkovski said: “I’m really proud of what we have achieved as an agency over the past few years, and now with a strong deputy like Sesh in place, I know we will strive for even greater things.
Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney’s main clients include NIB Insurance, Ladbrokes, and St George Bank.
The agency opened its Melbourne office in 2015 with foundation client Bank of Melbourne. It has since picked up Devondale, and Toyota work is shifting across with the move of the automative brand from Sydney to Melbourne.
Moodley said: “I’ve always been a big fan of Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney and their game-changing ideas for big brands. I couldn’t be more stoked to be back home for this role working with Mike and the team. What also excites me is the opportunity to help lead the agency’s creative efforts for some of Australia’s most iconic brands. I can’t wait to get stuck in and live up to their Nothing is Impossible spirit.”
