Saatchi & Saatchi boss calls for bravery as agency is awarded NSW Creative Laureate

Creative agency Saatchi & Saatchi was named NSW Creative Laureate at last night’s NSW Creative Achievement Awards.

Accepting the award, organised by the NSW Government to recognise the state’s creative industry, Saatchi & Saatchi CEO Michael Rebelo won applause from the audience when he urged corporate Australia to be braver.

He said: “At Saatchi & Saatchi we’re at the end of creativity where commerce meets art and without our clients we couldn’t do the kind of work we dream to do.

“Corporate Australia really needs to dig deep when it comes to bravery and taking a few more risks.”

Rebelo also used the platform to highlight the work of charity iManifest, which works to offer students from less privileged backgrounds routes into the creative industry.

The award was presented to Rebelo by Minister for Industry Anthony Roberts.

Among the Saatchi & Saatchi work highlighted in the announcement was its Penny the Pirate campaign on behalf of OPSM.
