Sam Fox: Extreme Adventures casts lead role

A relatively unknown 22 year old actor has been cast in the lead role of a new Australian kids TV series.

Remy Brand has been cast in the lead for Sam Fox: Extreme Adventures, produced by SLR Productions. The 26x 24 minute series will air on the Ten Network and sold internationally by ZDF Enterprises.

Australia’s SLR Productions today announced Remy Brand has been cast as lead ‘Sam Fox’ in the company’s live action series, ‘Sam Fox: Extreme Adventures’.

This will be the first major acting role for the 22 year old from New South Wales, Australia who has appeared in a guest role in Seven Network’s Home & Away.  As well as appearing in Sony, Freddo Frog, Kellogg’s Coco Pops, Hungry Jacks, The Greater, Capri Sun & QANTAS television commercials, Remy Brand was the hero in the Butter Menthol campaign in 2010.  In 2011, he landed the guest role of Dan in Seven Network’s hit series, Home & Away.

Suzanne Ryan, CEO of SLR Productions is the Executive Producer on the 26 x 24 minute series for 8-12 year olds to be seen locally on Network Ten and Cartoon Network with international distribution through ZDF Enterprises.  She established the company ten years ago and has gone onto become an Emmy Award winning producer and SPAA Producer of the Year in 2008 and 2009.  Suzanne Ryan is a four-time AACTA nominated producer.  Suzanne Ryan was the Animation and New Media Councillor for SPAA from 2008 to 2010 with her role representing the policy issues relevant to the needs of Australian animation producers.  Suzanne Ryan’s SLR Productions was nominated in the 2012 Premiers’ NSW Export Awards and she has been listed in the Who’s Who of Australian Women in 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Michael Bourchier is the Producer of the series.   Michael Bourchier has carved out an international reputation for creating and producing television and films. He has won two Logies, an AFI, an Emmy, was named SPAA Independent Producer of the Year in 2007 and SPAA Children’s Producer of the Year in 2005.  He co-wrote and produced the classic Australian children’s movie, Napoleon and was Executive Producer of Lucky Miles that opened the 2007 Adelaide Film Festival and won the Audience Award at the Sydney Festival.

Ally Henville will be Line Producer on the series.  She has spent 17 years working as a Line Producer / Production Manager specialising in long-form television drama.  After production-managing the feature films, Radiance and Not Fourteen Again, she joined the ABC, specialising in drama and children’s programmes.  In 2007 she pursued a freelance career and has worked as Line Producer on teenage drama series and adult comedy.

“Sam Fox: Extreme Adventures” will be directed by Evan Clarry, Arnie Custo, Julie Money, Nicholas Bufalo and Karl Zwicky.  Aaron Gully will be the Director of Photography.  The series Script Producer is Justine Gillmer with Jane Schneider as Script Editor and Terence McCarthy as Script Coordinator.

The series will be filmed at the South Australian Film Corporation’s brand new Adelaide Studios as well as on location in South Australia.

South Australian Film Corporation CEO Richard Harris said “Sam Fox: Extreme Adventures is a milestone for South Australia, as the first major television series to shoot in our brand new custom-built Adelaide Studios.  We are particularly pleased that not only will South Australian crew be working on this series in key creative roles, but there will be many South Australian actors performing in key and supporting roles, showcasing South Australia’s talented crew and cast.”

The series was green-lit for production last year following investment from Network Ten, ZDF Enterprises, Screen Australia, South Australian Film Corporation and KOJO.  ZDF Enterprises will distribute the series internationally.

Based on the thrilling action adventure books by popular children’s author, Justin D’Ath, ‘Sam Fox: Extreme Adventures’ is an action-packed comedy adventure series about teenage ‘danger magnet’ Sam Fox as he braves the wilds from open ocean to deepest jungle, coming face to face with killer sharks, man eating leopards, raging tornadoes, erupting volcanoes, deadly scorpions, giant anacondas and much, much more.
