San Remo announces new CMO replacing SATC-bound Erik de Roos

Australian-owned pasta company, San Remo Macaroni, has appointed James Askham-Levy as chief marketing officer.

Askham-Levy will replace the outgoing Erik de Roos, who has left to take up the role of executive director of marketing at the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC).

On LinkedIn, Askham-Levy said: “It is an absolute privilege to be responsible for an A-team of super talented, smart and capable marketing and communication professionals in nurturing a portfolio of incredible brands, known and loved around the world.

“I hope to stand on the shoulders of giants, Erik de Roos, and continue to produce work that puts San Reno Macaroni brands at the centre of consumers’ dinner tables long into the future.”

De Roos is moving on from the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) company after five years in the role. He has over two decades of industry experience, including time spent in agencies at Cummins & Partners and Clemenger BBDO.

It was announced in June that Brent Hill would be moving on from the SATC following his resignation.

Also on LinkedIn, de Roos commented on his replacement’s appointment: “Congratulations James – I’m very pleased I was able to hand over the reigns to someone as passionate as you! It’s an incredible company with an enviable portfolio of brands and I have no doubt you will do well. I look forward to seeing your impact in the months and years to come!”

Askham-Levy has a diverse range of experience, joining San Remo in November 2017 from SkyCity, a gaming, entertainment and hospitality business where he was communications manager. He has previously held roles at Optus, Bacardi and Edelman.

Askham-Levy has been contacted for comment.
