SBS appoints chief financial officer James Taylor as interim CEO

James Taylor, SBS’s chief financial officer, has been appointed interim CEO as the broadcaster looks to replace Michael Ebeid who is to step down in October to take an executive role at Telstra.

Taylor joined SBS six years ago and leads SBS’s finance, corporate strategy, people & culture, legal, media sales and commercial teams. Prior to SBS he had stint at Deloitte Australia and BT after seven years as the ABC’s commercial director.

Chairman of the SBS board of directors, Dr Bulent Hass Dellal, said the board had decided to make the appointment to ensure a smooth transition once Ebeid’s successor is found.

His appointment as acting managing director comes into effect from October 2 on Ebeid’s departure from the broadcaster. Nitsa Niarchos, SBS’s head of financial planning and analysis, will be acting CFO.
