SBS ramps up marketing efforts for Go Back To Where You Came From
SBS is ramping up its marketing efforts for soon-to-launch show Go Back To Where You Came From, adding print and online to its on-air promotional activities.
The online element to promote the show, produced by Cordell Jigsaw Productions, simulates what it would be like if there was major upheaval in Australia that would make Australians want to flee the country.
SBS is encouraging dialogue in the wider community with the show featuring on SBS Radio programs during Refugee Week, including interviews with program participants.
“Go Back To Where You Came From will provoke debate and discussion among around the issue of refugees and asylum-seekers in Australia and the marketing campaign has been developed to reflect this,” said SBS director of marketing, Jacquie Riddell. “It is part of our philosophy to engage with and lead the debate of multicultural issues that affect Australians.”
The three episodes will air next week – Tuesday 21, Wednesday 22 and Thursday 23 June.

What distresses me most about the entire issue is that it’s really not an issue at all. The vast majority (between 91%-98% over the last 20 years) of illegal immigrants arriving in this country actually arrive by plane, with visa, who then disappear.
The welfare of boat people most definitely needs redress. The vast amount of media and political attention given to the alleged ‘wave’ of arrivals by boat is nothing but a lie. And the first politician/party who actually has the balls to step up and say this gets my vote.
Oh, and if you doubt me feel free to peruse the official figures on the ABS website. It’s all there, always has been regardless of which political party happens to be in.

If, what Tim says is fact, rather than fiction, then one must ask why the boat people
don’t fly directly to Australia, rather than fly to Indonesia or Malaysia & then pay to boat it to Australia. Something just does not add up.
The “arrivals” by boat can not be disputed, Australia is running a ferry service
for the “arrivals” As for releasing them into the community, just where is all the
housing for them. How about housing the 105,00 homeless we already have,
probably half of whom are children. I am constantly astonished as to how the
“refugee industry” is so self-righteous & noble about the “boat people”, but not a
concern for our homeless.

Yes English over-stayers are the main concern. They are the ones that need to go back, back to Britain! These folks cause a bunch of crime often too. Compared to ‘boat people’ which are so thankful to be here.
We are all immigrants, apart from the native Australians the Koorie peoples. How quickly we forget that most our ancestors were boat people within only the last two hundred years.
