SCA appoints Cathrine McVeigh as head of audio production and operations

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) has announced the hire of Cathrine McVeigh in a newly created role of head of audio production and operations.

McVeigh will join the content leadership team and oversee the development of SCA’s new audio production and content operations hub.

Her remit will include the delivery of a growing slate of audio content across SCA’s Hit and Triple M networks, as well as commercial production, and digital audio platforms including LiSTNR.

McVeigh joins after spending the last 18 months as the head of production (digital media, television) at Southern Pictures.

She brings over 20 years’ leadership experience in the content production space, specialising in content creation across platforms including podcasting, digital audio, television, and publishing.

Her other recent roles include stints at The ABC and Essential Media & Entertainment. She will report to SCA chief content officer, Dave Cameron.

Cameron said: “We’re excited to have a leader of Cathrine’s calibre join us at such an important time in SCA’s continued digital audio transformation.

“She is a highly experienced strategic thought leader and creative innovator, who brings significant success leading large audio and operations teams and managing high volume content slates across multiple audio and video platforms,”

“The addition of Cathrine to the content leadership team will lead the continued level of excellence and growing output of audio content across all of SCA’s broadcast and digital platforms.”

Of her appointment, McVeigh said: “I am so thrilled to become part of the creative powerhouse that is SCA.  I can’t wait to join the team and help drive commercial success for our audience, clients and the company in a rapidly evolving and exciting audio marketplace.”

The appointment follows several changes SCA made to its strategy and insights division in late May when there were new roles for John Musgrove, Abi Wallis and Jasmine Beech.

Earlier that month, SCA unveiled a new digital audio sales leadership structure, with Kim Norman, Angie Stavros and Jonathan Mandel taking on new roles.

McVeigh’s appointment is effective from 9 August.
