SCA to rebrand newly-acquired Redwave stations as Hit and Triple M
The Redwave stations Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) acquired at the end of 2019 from Seven West Media will be redesigned to match the established Hit Network and Triple M Network branding.
The Western Australia regional radio stations previously operated under the Red FM and Spirit FM brands in eight regional areas and remote mine sites.
SCA acquired the radio assets for a cash consideration of $28m in a deal which was to help Seven overcome some of its debt.
Under the new changes, the Red FM stations will rebrand under the Hit Network and the Spirit FM stations will become Triple M branded.
SCA CEO Grant Blackley said the stations will still offer up local content.
“We are delighted to welcome the Redwave stations to the Hit and Triple M family of brands, and I’m sure listeners will enjoy the unique mix of music each brand brings to regional West Australians.
“Importantly, every station will continue to deliver strong local content and comprehensive coverage of news, information and events across Western Australia reflecting each community’s personality and values,” Blackley, said.
“The Redwave acquisition takes our national radio footprint to 96 stations nationwide, to join Australia’s largest radio network and all the benefits that brings.”
The new Hit and Triple M stations will announce their show line-ups and announcers in March.
By 16 March, the following rebrands will have taken place:
