SCA’s digital strategy boss Chris Derrick departs

Chris Derrick, Southern Cross Austereo’s head of digital strategy, will depart the company after almost three years.

Derrick joined the company in 2015 as head of digital partnerships before being appointed as digital strategy boss, where he was responsible for the management of the Vevo relationship.

His departure comes two weeks after the Vevo international sales partnership came to an end.

Before joining Southern Cross Austereo, Derrick was digital director at Authentic Entertainment Australia and has also held digital roles at Cricket Australia.

In his time with SCA, Derrick was also as co-chair of the IAB’s audio council and on the CRA’s app committee.

With the Vevo partnership ending, John Kelly, SCA’s chief operating officer and Derrick both said it was appropriate Derrick pursue new opportunities.

On his departure, Derrick said:  “I’m proud to have played a role in SCA’s innovation in the digital audio environment but now is the appropriate time to seek a new adventure”.

Kelly said Derrick had made an “enormous contribution” to the future strategy of SCA’s digital business.

“Most recently, Derrick negotiated commercial agreements with Google, Amazon and other companies with home connected devices, to see SCA be the first commercial radio company in Australia to launch services on smart speakers,” Kelly said.
