SCA’s Grant Blackley joins AANA board

The Australian Association of National Advertisers (AANA) has announced Southern Cross Austereo chief executive officer and managing director Grant Blackley will be joining its board as a director.

The announcement follows the appointment of Woolworths’ Andrew Hicks, Nestle’s Martin Brown and Coles’ Lisa Ronson in November, after a plan was announced earlier in the year to merge the AANA board with that of Ad Standards.

AANA chair Matt Tapper said the reach of SCA and Blackley’s experience in the industry make him a great addition to the board.

“I’m very pleased Grant will be joining the AANA Board. He brings with him more than 30 years’ experience leading some of the nation’s top broadcasters, including five years as CEO at the Ten Network and the past four as CEO at SCA. Having his perspective at the board table will help give us a 360 degree view of the issues impacting our industry,” said Tapper.

Blackley also chairs Commercial Radio Australia and is a director of Free TV Australia.

“I look forward to contributing to the great work the AANA Board does advocating for national advertisers and, as custodians of the self-regulatory system, protecting our right to commercial free-speech,” said Blackley.

2018 saw the AANA update its gender stereotyping laws and tighten the rules on how advertisers are able to portray body image.
