SCA’s The Studio recreates 1980s SPC jingle for new campaign

Southern Cross Austereo’s in-house creative team, The Studio, has modernised SPC’s 1981 Baked Beans and Spaghetti Jingle for a new campaign.

The jingle, which was originally created by Mike Brady, has been refreshed to become the centrepiece of a new radio campaign which seeks to position SPC as the ‘easy way’ for families to make mealtime simple.

SPC’s new advertisement involves a variety of musicians playing over a voiceover created at Sony Studios.

Luke Parsons, head of The Studio at SCA, said it was a privilege to work with SPC on this aspect of branding.

“It’s right in step with us (SCA) embracing our expertise in market as audio innovators,” Parsons added.

Jo Cruth, category marketing manager at SPC, said upholding the integrity and history of the jingle was key.

“SCA’s care and dedication to delivering the SPC bounce, as request, was much appreciated. We love the end result.” Cruth said.

Anna Magliano, group business director from Slingshot, added: “The jingle they delivered was right on point and will really push SPC Baked Beans and Spaghetti further and faster, which was always our goal.”
