School holidays helps Paddington claim top place in the box office
School holiday friendly film Paddington has knocked Horrible Bosses 2 from the top of the box office rankings after pulling in $1.364m, taking its total Australian box office takings to $3.968m.
Horrible Bosses 2 was relegated to third places as The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 held onto second place after grabbing $1.240m at the box office over the weekend. To date the film has made over $30m at the Australian box office.
A new comer to the box office was the remake of the musical Annie which took in $1.152m in its opening weekend.
Ridley Scott’s Exodus: Gods & Kings came in at sixth place after just missing out on taking a million over the weekend, with kids movie Alexander And The Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day beating it at fifth place after taking in $1.012m.
Interstellar continues to make the top ten after pulling in $474,922 over the weekend. Gone Girl slipped from the top ten into eleventh place after grabbing $62, 142, taking its total box office takings to $26.738m.
