Setanta wins broadcasting rights to ‘real league, real fans’ English football league
Setanta has won the Australian broadcasting rights to the English football league’s second tier, the NPower Championship.
The broadcaster will show three games per round, including the play-off at the end of the season in May.
It takes on the rights from Fox Sports.
Setanta has also picked up the Capital One Cup, formerly known as the Carling Cup, and the rights to the UEFA Europa league, although part of the coverage will be shared by SBS.
Fox has the rights to the English Premier League, the upper tier of English football.
I thought Setanta went bust?

How on Earth could this be good news? It won’t be in HD, I had Setanta for the Euros and it was like watching a snow storm through a foggy window and now everyone has to pay a Setanta subscription. Please, explain to me how this is good news.

Well, at least now you can watch it.

But you could watch it before on fox sports in HD without having to subscribe to some ridiculous Irish channel that will wedge it in between curling and any other football tournament no one in Australia wants to see i.e. Copasudamericana, early rounds of the League Cup, etc. This is the worst thing to happen to Australian football broadcasting since English football was taken from the common man to watch on SBS and bought exclusively by Fox Sports.
