Seven West Media chief operating officer Nick Chan is leaving the firm after only 14 months in the role as part of a management restructure.

Chan has spent a decade at Seven and was formerly chief executive of Seven-owned Pacific Magazines before being promoted to COO of Seven last October.

The shake-up sees Pacific Magazines director Peter Zavecz elevated to chief executive, a job title which has not existed since Chan’s move last year.

The company will also appoint a director of television operations who will report to Seven West Media CEO Tim Worner.

Worner will retain direct management responsibility for the wider broadcast television business.

Seven’s presence in online and new forms of content delivery will be managed by Clive Dickens, the company’s recently appointed chief digital officer who will join in January. Dickens moves to Seven from Southern Cross Austereo where he was digital director.

The media firm said the restructure forms part of an “ongoing programme of driving further efficiencies and integration across its major media businesses” while its “expanding presence in online and new forms of content delivery” also played a role in the reshuffle.

Seven said the role of COO “does not form part of this new management reporting line”.

Worner praised Chan for playing a “key role in the development of the company as CEO of Pacific Magazines and COO of Seven West Media”.

“We are sorry to be losing Nick. We will miss him,” he said. “We are grateful to him for his contribution to the success of our business. He will always have a large number of friends at Seven and he has been a valuable colleague. Nick has built up a great team here and leaves the business in excellent shape.

“The new management structure streamlines reporting lines and responsibilities and is part of our ongoing plan of driving greater efficiencies and integration across our business as well as focusing on what we do best: creating content and delivering that content to our audiences anywhere anytime.”

Chan said he felt “privileged” to have worked at Seven and described staff as a “talented, dedicated and passionate group of people”.
