Seven dominates Tuesday as Rafters makes a muted return

Seven had its second night in a row of dominant ratings, with My Kitchen Rules, back-to-back episodes of Packed To The Rafters and Seven News the four most watched shows of the night.

However, Rafters was also well off its best. The 2008 series premiered with 1.945m, 2009 premiered at 1.873m and 2010 was 1.942m. Last night’s premiere was 1.439m, about 25% down on last year.

Despite that, Seven left little oxygen for Ten and Nine, which had an all comedy lineup.

For Nine, new comedy Two Broke Girls failed to break the 1m barrier. It rated 984,000, according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam. A new Big Bang Theory episode rated 1.126m while the repeat episode rated 773,000. Two And A Half Men continued the fade that began last year, rating 695,000 and 642,000.

Ten didn’t break 1m all night. Its two NCIS episodes rated 970,000 and 963,000. Biggest Loser rated 715,000.

For Seven MKR rated 1.53m, the Valentine’s Day-friendly Rafters did 1.439m for the premiere and 1.247m for its second episode.  Seven News rated 1.152m.

The only bright spot for Nine came with Nine News moving back on top in Sydney –  out-rating Seven News 342,000 to 255,000.

In Ten’s preferred demo of 16-39, Biggest Loser fared slightly better, pulling in 258,000, seventh for the night.

And in Nine’s nominated battleground of 25-54, the comedy lineup worked better, with Big Bang Theory third, and Two Broke Girls fifth.
