Seven drops The Super Switch to one night a week amid poor ratings
After just two nights on air, Seven has already made the decision to drop a night of The Super Switch.
The show, which was airing Tuesday and Wednesday nights at 7:30pm, will now only air on Wednesday night. Next Tuesday will see a House Rules special air instead.
The Super Switch is a revamped version of Seven Year Switch which was based on an American format. It aired in 2016 and 2017 and saw four married couples switch partners to test their relationships.
At the upfronts in 2018, Seven announced The Super Switch, to be produced by Seven Studios, which would see six couples split and paired with strangers.
But the show hasn’t grabbed viewers like Seven hoped, and it premiered to just 308,000 metro viewers. The second night saw it climb slightly to 381,000, narrowly beating the ICC Cricket World Cup which aired on Nine’s multi-channel Gem to 380,000.
In 2016 The Seven Year Switch premiered to 858,000 metro viewers, while in 2017 that figure was down to 618,000 for season two.
Seven has struggled in the past with new show formats. The Single Wives didn’t make it past one season, Back with the Ex hasn’t had a new season announced, Dance Boss didn’t return in 2019 and Australian Spartan had a tough 2018 with a two-week break pushing it into non-ratings period.
Seven’s best-rating programs are often its long-running shows, including Seven News, Home and Away, and the AFL.
Its no good trying to split an existing market (in format terms). Following others means relegation to #2 all the time post 7.30pm. Therefore given the failures to date, SWM needs to appoint a post 7.30pm program director as a breakout. Even TEN is back in play post 7.30pm.

I am sick and tired of these so called reality shows, with wannabees trying to get into TV. Where do they find these people.
No one wants to see such rubbish on TV. WE HAVE HAD FAR TOO MANY OF THESE LOVED UP COUPLE SHOWS.
Please stop putting these shows on TV.
Many of these people are suffering personal trauma when these shows of over.
Teenagers and kids do not need to see this behaviour and think its normal.

You would have thought Ch.7 would have taken notice of the stupidity Ch.9 went thru, with Married at first sight, if that wasn trying to buy ratings, call it what you like, Ch.7 stay away from those type of shows.

People have woken up to the fact that these shows are fake as, mafs showed us how scripted and set up the whole thing is! What a waste of our time, we genuinely wanted to see the work for rhe right reasons and ubfold naturally – we got a shitload of fake s#*t. People are directed and exploited and producers are wanting to exploit situations and blow them out of proportion just for ratings. Some of the participants just want to be on tv and are not on the show for the right reasons, its just a stepping stone to other things And to top it off, the so-caled experts are bloody useless and should be ashamed of themselves.

People are flocking to Netflix, Stan and other streaming services to pay for scripted drama and the FTA networks strategy is to pump out exactly the opposite of what people want (and are paying for it).
Radical idea. FTA network buys exclusive right to blockbuster TV drama – runs it ad free in prime time for first run and in HD on their streaming ap.

It seems that the “feedback” message is getting stronger. Failure takes a long time and a lot of funding if you are willing to pursue it this way.
The pitching of revamped or rubber stamped low mentality has-beens from another society is the assiduity of the desperate, untalented and rating hungry individuals who have replaced what used to be called programmers and producers.

The SuperSwitch is NOTHING like MAFS or the Crapchelor. Having watched a couple of Eps on 7Plus, It is a fly on the wall experiment where real couples with problems are switched and then we get to see their journey in how they deal with their issues and the interplay among the “Switch” couples and the broader group.
I am not somebody who is usually into these sort of shows but i have really enjoyed what i have watched so far and think it is a shame that Seven havent kept the faith especially when it is up against dull mindless “Entertainment” like The Voice and Master Snooze…..

I can’t usually tolerate this kind of show but this one is definitely different with far more genuine ”characters” and moments in the first few eps.

I enjoyed this show and I’m disappointed I haven’t watched it for 2weeks now. What channel is it on so I can continue the excitement? I really miss the show. Last I saw they contestants went on vacations. Port Douglas and up north. PLS help me.

Just watched it – of course they are all staying together even though the editing showed that pretty much all of them still had the same issues as when they started in the show.
The couple Miranda and ? Have moved to Melbourne to build their dream home. She needs to be careful of him as he shows control
and jealousy issues big time – still even after the experiment concluded. He has taken her away to have her all to himself!! Warning signs there!
