Seven launches e-sports platform, ScreenPLAY

Seven has launched a new multi-channel platform dedicated to e-sports and video gaming.

The new platform will feature news, reviews, live streams, game plays, interviews and cosplay, acting as the hub for gaming and e-sports.

ScreenPLAY will also launch its own league competition.

The content will be presented by new hosts, Stephanie Bendixsen and Nich Richardson, who will be joined weekly by screenPLAY e-sports experts.

Bendixsen and Richardson both previously worked on The ABC’s long-running gaming program, Good Game before it was axed earlier this year

Prior to Seven, Bendixsen was the first full-time female presenter for Good Game, as well as its young gaming show, Spawn Point.

Richardson’s experience stems from his creation of The Roast, a Fairfax online satirical news show in 2011.

He was also host of Good Game’s digital show, Pocket, prior to joining Seven.

The new platform aims to build on Seven’s ‘content everywhere’ strategy, with the platform running live across, TV, social media, events and e-sports activations, while regularly streaming across gaming platforms including Twitch.

ScreenPLAY will debut on 7mate in the next few weeks and will launch online at screenPLAY.seven on 19 June.

The news comes a week after PwC partner, Megan Brownlow, cited online services such as e-gaming sites are earning 20 times more revenue through subscribers than advertising at Mumbrella360.
