House Rules launches to 1.183m just beating The Big Bang Theory

Seven wasted no time in launching the second series of reality show House Rules to 1.183m last night, just beating a new episode of The Big Bang Theory which had 1.18m on Channel Nine.

The home renovation reality show produced by the in-house production team behind Seven’s blockbuster hit My Kitchen Rules, which finished on Tuesday night, had 803,000 when the first series launched in May last year, but its audience built throughout the series, overtaking stiff competition from Channel Nine’s The Block and winning 1.5m for the final episode.

Last night House Rules, on at 7.30pm, was the top entertainment show of the night, however The Big Bang Theory was close behind in the same timeslot, preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam show. However the new episode of Big Bang Theory was most popular with the 25-54 demographic, with House Rules relegated to third spot and The Blacklist in fifth.

Puberty Blues had 529,000 on Ten at 8.30pm after holding 433,000 metro viewers for The Living Room in the 7.30pm timeslot.

Nine was first in the 8.30pm timeslot with 966,000 for its second repeat of the Big Bang Theory, while The Blacklist had 871,000 on Seven from 8.45pm. However The Blacklist was more popular than Nine’s new sitcom Mom which had 664,000 from 9pm.

Seven’s audience then dropped to 353,000 for Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD from 9.45pm as Nine’s movie The Hangover averaged 401,000, winning the timeslot.

Seven News from 6pm was the most watched program with 1.216m metro viewers, and held onto 1.121m from 6.30pm while Nine News had 1.062m for the first half hour and 958,000 for the second.

Seven won the night with a 23.5 per cent share of the audience as Nine had 21.8 per cent. ABC1 took 12 per cent and Ten had 10.2 per cent of the metro audience share.
